Cat (not) whisperer

While travelling the world, Malcolm and I entrusted our cat, Moo-Moo to the care of my brother.  Brodder loves our cat and has managed to keep other animals alive in his care, so we took the plunge.

me:  I would like photographic evidence that our cat is still alive, please. That, and I might miss him a bit.

Brodder:
Moo eating my phone charger.

And eating the Christmas lights.

me: Don't you have any pictures of him being well behaved? Or have you spoiled our cat for us?

Brodder: Spoiled to the bone. Good luck ever owning nice things.

Back to basics

I have not been ignoring (why does this post always seem to come at the beginning of every year?).  In a very therapeutic and cathartic move, I've made a bit of a return to writing by paper and pen.  Enough so that I've practically filled the temporary journal I had brought with me on this trip.  Enough so that I totally exhausted the pen that I brought with me that had been full of ink before we'd left.  Enough so that it appears that I've ignored blogging.  But I haven't.

It was actually due to a lack of internet access or a lack of blog access that rebooted my old ways of paper and pen. that method never lets you down.  And actually, while I find it hard both ways, I find it's easier to pick up an entry where I may have left off on paper while an electronic copy usually just gets deleted for lack of want of finishing.  So it's been nice.  Complete entries that I have no guilt about writing out of time-line order, that I don't mind starting and stopping and that I enjoy reading over and over again, hearing the pages turn beneath my fingers and feeling the crinkle of the paper caused by my pen to paper.

But I'm back.  Or at least I will be when it comes time to share the words here.

Happy New Year!
